Frequently Asked Questions

Lifting (facial and neck wrinkles)

¿How long do the results of the operation last?

¿In how long can I socialize?

Results usually last between 7 to 10 years. It depends on the skin care with the use of quality products, avoiding sun exposure, and avoiding constant fluctuations in weight. The swelling should subside within three weeks. In the case of a full neck and facial lift, it is better to have a month recovery before socializing.

Rhinoplasty (Nose)

¿From what age can I consider the surgery?

It is usually performed from the age of 17, when the bone growth of the nose has been fully developed.

Otoplasty (Ears)

¿From what age can I consider the surgery?

¿How long is the recovery and what precautions should I take?

The age should be after 9 years old in everyone. The recovery time is 4-5 days and care includes rest, avoiding the sun and direct contact or trauma. A protective compression garment must be worn such as a band or a headband, continuously for at least the five initial days and then overnight the following 4 weeks.

Blepharoplasty (Eye lids)

¿Will the wrinkles disappear with the surgery?

A blepharoplasty improves the appearance of tired eyes, or swollen eyes, eliminating pockets of fat and excess skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Therefore, it significantly improves the wrinkles located on the eyelids. However, to correct those that are located outside of the eyelid, the eye area (crow feet), other complementary methods are used such as peels, Botox injections, and fillers.

Liposuction

¿Will I lose weight with a liposuction?

¿Which procedure is better, laser, vaser, ultrasound, vibro-liposuction or traditional?

The goal of a liposuction is to contour, shape, and define forms and volumes of localized fat deposits in different areas of the body. Because this is achieved your weight will decrease, although it was not the primary objective. However, the person must follow a healthy diet and care after surgery, and avoid weight variations for the result to be maintained over time. All of the equipment undoubtedly helps, however, in every case it depends on the surgeon´s experience.

Breast Implants

¿How often should they be changed?

¿Will I be able to breastfeed?

¿Is it better in front or behind the muscle?

Breast implants should be changed every 10 to 15 years. Make sure your surgeon`s implants possess the Invima registration and authorization from the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery. Current techniques used preserve functionality allowing breast feeding. The implants used currently are of high quality and durable materials. You can make use of diagnostic methods such as ultrasounds and mammograms to detect any abnormalities. Furthermore, implant placement, depending on the surgeon's judgment and the anatomical conditions of the patient, can be in front or behind the muscle. Optimal results can be achieved both ways.

Breast Reduction

¿From what age can the procedure be done?

¿Can breasts regrow?

It can be done after 14 years of age if the volume is large, causes pain or posture problems. It is possible that in some cases due to hormonal stimulation, breasts grow back over the years. In these cases, it would be necessary to do the reduction procedure again.

Abdomen

¿Will the scar be too big or noticeable?

¿Will I need liposuction or a tummy tuck?

The tummy tuck scar will depend on the width of the abdomen and hips of the person and the skin to remove, because if the person is thin, the scar will be shorter. In all cases, we try to always leave the smallest scar possible and that it is hidden and can be covered with underwear or a bathing suit. The surgeon will know the patient`s needs immediately and be the one to decide if the patient requires a liposuction. One surgery does not replace the other. Sometimes they go together, but each one has a purpose.

Post-op treatments

¿Are post-op treatments always needed?

Currently, it is recommended that in the majority of the cases, these treatments go hand in hand with plastic surgery. It has been proven that they contribute to a speedy recovery for patients.
